Welcome to my very first newsletter! I am really happy you're here and that you've taken an interest in what is happening and what is new in my life! I hope that with this monthly newsletter, I can help spark joy in your life. It is always my aim to bring smiles to faces and to inspire minds.
Each month I will share about a woman that has inspired me and something fun about bubbles in the news along with other inspiration and where you can find me performing and lecturing. I will also have some extras like videos specially for my newsletter subscribers and raffles!
Lucille Ball has continued to inspire me since my childhood. I have very fond memories of binge watching "I Love Lucy" specials on Nick at Nite. In high school, we often killed time at rehearsals in our Theatre Teacher’s office while waiting for our scenes.
Our theatre teacher, Mr. Craig Munk had a plethora of books on theater, acting, and stagecraft. He had one book that was full of pictures from movies and film ( The Film Book: A Complete Guide to the World of Cinema ). One picture of course mesmerized me! It was Lucille Ball dressed in a beautiful pink evening gown with feather plumes billowing around her and a bunch of women in black sequin bodysuits dressed as cats. It was so elegant and at the time odd to me to see her in any other context besides “I Love Lucy”.
So of course I had to look into the marvelous production that is the Ziegfield Follies. To this day, Follies has a huge impact on me and my performance style. The more I learned about Ms. Ball, the more I admired her! From a less than successful model to comedy queen and eventual production company owner and investor. Lucille Ball was so authentic, charismatic and compassionate, all things that I strive to be everyday!
Bubbles in the News:
Bubbles as Artificial Pollinators
The science of bubbles fascinates me SO MUCH (duh). But seriously, using bubbles to pollinate is genius! In a world where our pollinators are in crisis due to pollution and urban growth, our food chain has been affected. Bubbles can help and are a great addition to also making moves to save the bees.
But it’s not just sticking some pollen all Glinda-style in a bubble. If you know bubbles, anything that is stuck to their film will eventually find a way to the bottom of the bubble or stick to other particles on the bubble film. So scientists give the grains an electrostatic charge so that they don’t stick to each other. Isn’t science amazing?
